Environmental Working Group, Helping You Keep it Clean.

Trying to keep your diet clean can be overwhelming.  So many choices in our supermarkets is both a blessing and a curse.  How can you discern what is truly healthy?

Reading labels is so important but can be confusing, especially if you are just starting to pay attention. "Organic." "Natural." "Sugar Free." "Low Fat." "Carrageenan."

Luckily there is an app for that!  The Environmental Working group is helping us keep it clean, and here is how.

Clean Fifteen/Dirty Dozen:

When it comes to fresh produce we say that organic is best.  However it is more important to eat organic when it comes to certain produce and not so important with others.  Some produce contains more pesticide residue and other nasties than others and EWG has broken it down for us.  You can get their guide here.

The App:

EWG's Healthy Living App allows you to scan barcodes of food and health products and gives you a rating of their safety and a breakdown of why.  I encourage you to start scanning the things you use frequently.  You may be surprised at what has been snuck into your food and onto you body.  For details on how to download and use the app click here.

Being aware helps us make better choices.  Happy shopping!
